Self-Defense Protection - Banker Safety. Are You At Risk?

Courtesy of Personal Security Solutions, Inc.  Women At Risk - Banker Safety

Banks and credit unions are made up of about 66% women employees. There are bank tellers, human resources, upper management, and a multitude of other professional positions within banks and credit unions held by women. One of the positions within the bank that seems to be extremely vulnerable is the bank teller. With the number of bank robberies increasing, even in small towns, bank employees need to be constantly aware and on alert to anything unusual or potential dangerous mannerisms of those entering the bank and notice.

If you work in the banking industry, what type of self-defense training do you receive from your company?  Sure, a bank employee does not want to pull out a TASER C2 or pepper spray while someone has a gun pointed at them. But it is equally important that employees of the bank or credit union have specific self-defense awareness training and know what to do in these situations and how to protect themselves and those around them.

Due to the nature of the premises and location of a bank or credit union, this can create an opportunity for criminals who are desperate for cash. Keep in mind when you depart from a bank or credit union, the criminal may think you are carrying cash on your person. For those desperate criminals, $20 may seem like a lot of money.

Be Aware and Be Prepared!

As you leave the bank premises, always be aware of your surroundings. Notice the people you pass and those who may be loitering in the parking lot near your car. Be prepared with your pepper spray in your hand or at least where you can get immediate access to it. Keep a personal alarm and/or pepper spray attached to your car keys. As you walk to your car carry yourself with a confident demeanor. Let those with criminal intentions know that you are not going to be a victim so they may as well look elsewhere.

As part of your personal safety plan, take a self-defense or safety awareness training. It is very important to know how to protect and defend yourself if attacked or assaulted.  Self-defense training can give you the confidence and self-empowerment needed in order to fight back. (Check out Dr. Ruthless’ self-defense training for women and men @ www.dr-ruthless.com).

If all else fails, consider being prepared to respond with some type of personal protection.  Remember personal protection devices like pepper spray, Mace, stun guns or TASERs are all non-lethal devices not meant to serious injure or kill a person but only to distract or throw someone off-guard enough for you to get away to safety.

You - and only you -  are responsible for your life.  Protect yourself and save your life!

Women At Risk - College Campus Safety

Young women are heading back to college this month and for some this will be their first time away from home.  If you are one who will be going off to college soon, be vigilant about your personal safety and take some steps to ensure your safety and security while at school.

One of the things you can do is take an on-campus RAD Self-Defense Training Class.  This class will provide some basic self-defense tips while teaching young women self-defense techniques and tactics to protect and defense themselves against an attacker.  Check with your university/college and sign up!!

More and more we hear in the news about young women who are sexually assaulted, raped, and even murdered on or around college campuses. As we send our young adults off to college, be sure to arm them with safety knowledge and safety awareness of how to protect themselves.

There may be situations on campus where you find yourself in potentially vulnerable situations - walking to a late night class alone, jogging by yourself along deserted pathways, parking in poorly lit garages or parking lots, or just being unaware of the dangers around you.

Campus Safety for College Students and Educators:
Self-Defense Knowledge and Awareness to Staying Safe

There are ways for you to stay safe on campus. As previously mentioned, most universities and college campus’ offer self-defense classes such as RAD Self-Defense. This type of training can give you a tremendous sense of confidence and self-empowerment.

You can also use campus protection or security services; always stay with others in a group-especially late at night; stay in control when drinking and partying with others; and carry some type of self-protection device such as pepper spray or mace, a personal alarm, or a TASER C2. (These are all non-lethal protection devices). Being armed with both mental and physical awareness along with some type of personal protection device could ultimately save your life if attacked or assaulted!

Survival Facts From Dr. Ruthless - A Lady With A KickA Attitude!

Stay Aware…Stay Alert…Stay Alive - Surviving Against An Attack!

Courtesy Of Dr. Ruthless & Rabiared

When you read information about women who have made self-defense initiatives for women their life’s work, it is inspiring to realize that there are options for women to stay safe (and stay alive) when confronted by an attacker.  When you know how to fight and defend yourself against a predator, you no longer have to live in fear!

Dr. Ruthless (Melissa Soat), self-defense/black belt expert, teaches self-defense and speaks to audiences of women and men about overall self-defense techniques, awareness strategies, and how learning these skills can give you a tremendous sense of empowerment and self-confidence.  I have seen Dr. Ruthless’ self-defense videos and she is one "tough" fighter.  If all options are exhausted and you must fight for your life - fight back with explosive power and find that "ballistic" alter ego inside that refuses to become a victim of some predator’s assault, attack, or worse..murder.

Dr. Ruthless has an awesome DVD/Video collection entitled "Fierce & Female."  It’s a practical no-nonsense program for women and teens!  If you are looking for self-defense training in the comfort of your home, check out this DVD collection.  Being mentally prepared and having a plan of action if attacked makes you a formidable opponent instead of a victim!  Remember, the element of surprise is something the attacker is not going to expect.

The following Survival Factoid is from Dr. Ruthless collection on self-defense and safety tips.

FACT: The first few seconds of an assault (or first sign of real danger) is your best time to act, to break away. The longer a person has control over you the more difficult it becomes to facilitate escape.

Reduce the element of surprise. Ditch "tunnel vision" and develop peripheral vision! Soften your gaze and use your eyes like a sweeping wide angle lens. This can help eliminate blind spots — common angles of attack.

NEVER allow a criminal to take you to another location (not even at gunpoint; not even from the street to the backside of a building). Second locations are always far more dangerous! At a second more isolated location, criminals will have far more control over you. Go ballistic but do not "go with!"

NEVER allow yourself to be tied up! As soon as you see rope, duct tape or cord coming at you, it’s time to "go off!" Learning how could save your life!

High karate kicks that are great tush tighteners are typically impractical in real world self defense. Explosive, shorter range tools of "in fighting" and dirty tactics are more effective and likely to be called into play. (See Fierce and Female Videos. )

Commitment counts! When it comes to fighting back, "will" is as important as skill! Inner focus and resolve can enable you to blast through fear or panic. Intention combined with Killer Instinct is the Mother of Technique!

Adrenaline is a wonder drug! It staves off pain and can infuse you with supernatural powers. But if not managed or utilized efficiently, it can induce terror or panic. (“See Fight Back Against Rape”)

Don’t be afraid to make a scene: Yell! Honk! Throw a rock though a window! Do everything you can to attract attention!  Whatever - DO NOT GET INTO A CAR - a second location is not going to be a good thing!

Remain vigilant while driving! Never mind your bad hair. Ambushes at vehicles can be swift and vicious. If approached while in your vehicle and you cannot see an intruder’s hands, drive away!

A moving target is harder to hit! If approached by a gunman and you can escape, RUN! Distance is your best defense! When driving, try to maintain enough room between your vehicle and the one in front to make a quick getaway. In just three seconds at 20 mph a car travels 90 feet — effectively out of range of most shooters.

Say what? Mind your words, especially when dealing with potentially explosive individuals. Use empathy ("I can hear how upset you are…") and non-inflammatory language. If you bump into a wild-eyed punk say, "Oops… I’m sorry!" versus "Outta my way butt-breath!" Warning: Never stick your face where it doesn’t belong!

Tune IN as well as outward! Honoring gut feelings — often present early in a situation or relationship — has saved many women’s lives!

Survival is hard wired! As a culture, women have "learned helplessness" and can unlearn it! Being afraid does not mean being helpless!

All Joggers & Walkers - Keep Personal Safety A #1 Priority

Are you are an avid jogger or power walker?  If so, make sure your personal safety is a #1 priority as you get ready for your early morning or late evening jog or walk.

As you are getting ready for your jog/walk - strapping on the iPod and earphones – be aware that there may be some "crazies" around your jogging trail looking for someone just like you – happy go lucky and slightly unaware that anything “bad” could happen to you.

When jogging or walking, you may not always hear someone coming up behind you – especially with your headphones on or talking on your cell phone – so make sure you take the volume and distractions into consideration. The majority of attackers come from behind so as you pass someone and he smiles and waves, be aware, peer over your shoulder just to make sure he hasn’t switched gears in your direction and is now behind you.

The number of women joggers/walkers who have been attacked, assaulted, and even murdered over the last five years is staggering.  With proper security and safety awareness, a self-defense mindset, and carrying some type of a personal protection device(s), you can become a woman warrior on the road….to better health and safety!

Here are some personal safety jogging and walking tips that can help keep you safe and alive:

1. Always be alert and aware of your surroundings and the people you are coming into contact with along the walking - jogging path.

2. If you must jog/walk alone, be aware of your surroundings especially when near secluded areas. Try to walk with a partner or take your dog along.

3. Carefully observe male jogger/walkers as you pass them. If you notice anything strange or you have an instinctively bad feeling (gut feeling), remove yourself from that situation right away. Trust your first gut instinct - it’s usually right!

4. Carry some type of personal protection/safety device – like a TASER C2, Mace Pepper Spray “Hot Walkers” walking weights, Pepper Spray, or a Personal Alarm w/lights.

5. If you have headphones on, make sure you can hear noise – like sirens or someone approaching you quickly.  Don’t become so distracted with listening to your MP3, music, or talking on a cell phone that you fail to see signals of an oncoming attack.  You need to stay alert and aware of what’s going on around you.

6. If you must jog/walk at night, do so in well-lit, busy areas and with a partner.  Wear a reflective vest or some attire so you are visible for cars and others to see.

7. If you are wearing a halter top and short shorts – be EXTRA, EXTRA aware of others around you.  We should be able to wear what we want when we want, but the fact is there are idiots out there that prey on women – especially those dressed scantily.  Become knowledgeable of what to do in case of an attack.  A self-defense class teaches techniques to protect and defend yourself enough to get away to safety.  Consider carrying some type of personal protection AND cell phone with you when you jog or walk.

8. Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return.  If something happens and you don’t return when expected, people know where you had planned to do your jogging/walking.

Keep up your workout program of jogging or walking but be smart and always keep your personal safety first and foremost!

Remember, Stay Aware…Stay Alert…Stay Alive!

Here are (2) personal protection devices you might want to consider as you do your daily jogging or walking:

TASER C2 - Non-Lethal Personal Protection For Home Or Away

The TASER C2 - Non-Lethal Personal Protection For Home & Away

Courtesy of TASER International

If the thought of being mugged, assaulted or violently attacked terrifies you, what have you done to ensure your own safety whether in your home or on the street?  Many people are buying firearms (lethal weapons) in an effort to protect their home and family.

For those who don’t want to go to this extreme but still want to know they can protect themselves using non-lethal weapons - the TASER C2 is a device that has incredible takedown power and can certainly intimidate the  low-life criminal.

Check out the information on the TASER C2.  This personal protection device can give women (your wife, daughter, mother, or friend) a sense of empowerment, confidence, and peace of mind knowing they at least have a way to protect and defend themselves against a violent attacker or rapist.

My recommendation for women is to first take a self-defense class such as RAD Self-Defense, and learn effective techniques so you can protect and defend yourself.  This training alone can give women a tremendous amount of self-confidence and the ability to fight back against an attacker.

Having a non-lethal weapon like a TASER C2 gives a secondary defensive layer of protection - being able to stun or incapacitate an attacker enough to get away to safety. (When you get your TASER, be sure to go through the TASER C2 training and follow the necessary guidelines of how to use and properly care for this device).

A note from my personal experience - like American Express, I never leave home without my TASER C2.

To purchase your own TASER C2 go to: http://www.thepersonalsecuritystore.com/taserc2.htm.

Take care, stay safe & protect your home and family.
