Beverly Fisher, Realtor, Century 21 Jim Dunfee Realty

Personal Security Solutions, the parent company of Self Defense With An Attitude, along with Linda Sokol from ADT Security, recently held a Realtor Safety Awareness Seminar for Century 21 Jim Dunfee Realty in South Bend, Indiana.  We discussed various safety awareness topics on how realtors can keep themselves safe while on the job, at home, on the road, and basically wherever they go.

Realtors are in a fairly high risk category just by the very nature of their job and our special guest, Beverly Fisher, Broker Associate, from Century 21 Jim Dunfee Realty, mentioned that in her testimonial video.  She said, “When you are working the front desk and get a call from someone (lots of times a complete stranger) who wants to meet with you right away, the first thing you do is bolt out to meet him.  And sometimes you don’t even tell anyone.”  In today’s world that is not always the safest thing to do.  Each real estate office should have specific forms for documenting prospective client data, addresses where the agent will be meeting the prospect, and pertinent information that might prove helpful if the agent comes up missing.

A lot of the information we covered in the safety awareness seminar are things that each realtor agent knows, but as Beverly mentioned, “they are things everyone knows but we all get so busy that sometimes we forget to do the right thing.  Or we get complacent and think that “it won’t happen to me.”

During the seminar I had mentioned to the Century 21 group that I was just finishing a RAD Self-Defense training class and it was an excellent program that all women should take.  When I talked with Beverly this morning she indicated that her Broker has scheduled to have the women in her office take a RAD self-defense class at Notre Dame.

Along with the Safety Awareness Class they just had, this self-defense class will greatly benefit the women by giving them various techniques and tactics that will empower them with the knowledge of how to protect themselves if an attack or assault situation should ever happen.  This is a great start for each agent in their Safety Plan of Action.

Again, my thanks to the women from Century 21 Jim Dunfee Realty who attended the training and a special thank you to Beverly Fisher who took time out of her busy day to talk with me.

Remember, Stay Aware…Stay Alert…Stay Alive!
