Realtor Safety At Open Houses - Tips And Safety Warnings
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Next Wednesday I will be talking with a group of realtors about "Realtor Security and Safety Awareness." We will cover personal safety and self-defense techniques, personal protection products and how and when to use them, and home security issues and concerns. Personal security begins at home so it’s important that we cover good home security tactics.
Over the next week I will be posting about realtor safety concerns as well as the self-defense class I am currently taking (RAD Self-Defense).

The first night of the RAD Self-Defense class – which is for women only – was primarily instructional. Instructor Lon Smith laid the foundation for what we would learn over the next three weeks, tips on our personal safety, and more.

“To develop and enhance the options of self-defense so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked.” Read more
R.A.D. Self-Defense Class Starts Tonight For 4-Weeks
A R.A.D. Self-Defense Class starts tonight in Elkhart, Indiana. I will be attending this 4-week class, 3 hours per night and soaking up everything I can. After each class I will blog about what I learn that night. RAD has such a great reputation for being a class designed around self-defense awareness techniques that are highly effective and simple enough for women of all ages to learn. In fact, these awareness techniques could just save your life!
R.A.D (Rape Aggression Defense) Self-Defense Training
R.A.D. Self-Defense Training
Many women have never heard of the RAD System, but it has been around since 1989. It is taught by certified R.A.D. instructors on many college campuses and in local communities throughout the United States.
The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a Martial Arts program. The courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. Instructors and provide each student with a workload/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continuous personal growth, and is the key to our free lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates. Read more
Self-Defense, Women Fighting Back And Trusting Your Instincts!!
This is from an Oprah Show about Women Safety.
Almost 400,000 women are raped every year in American – only about 2 percent of rapists go to jail for their crime. If you are a woman, you are at risk of rape no matter what your background is but you have the power to take control of your situation!
Oprah says that one of the best things she’s learned about self-defense is, never allow yourself to be taken to a second location. That is something I also learned in my self-defense class. Remember that ladies! It is important to be in control and to use your head in the moment of crisis. (Remember our plan of action!). Read more

x
Shihan Michael Pace
It is frightening to think about an intruder getting into your home while you are there, especially into your bedroom while you are asleep. Women who live alone or have spouses who travel frequently may feel more vulnerable.
No doubt…none of us would want this situation to ever happen. It is a good idea to be proactive in thinking what you would do to protect yourself if you were awakened in the middle of the night with an intruder in your bedroom. Read more
Women’s Self-Defense Verbal Skills- Develop an Assertive Attitude
Shihan Michael Pace
Sometimes women can be too nice to people they don’t know. Women usually don’t want to be considered rude or loud, so when there’s a confrontation of some sort may tend to demonstrate a passive attitude. If a perpetrator is confronting you, he may be checking your reactions to see how you respond. He may be looking for a potential victim who appears weak–not strong. And he certainly doesn’t want one who is willing to fight him should he attack. Read more
Empower Yourself - Fight Back

Check out this video about some common sense things we should do every day. I’ve discussed always being aware of our surroundings 24/7 and trusting your instincts and gut feelings. To further advance your self- defense awareness you should empower yourself by taking some type of local self-defense training or get a video or DVD on the subject that you can watch at home. The more you participate in a self-defense class or watch the defense moves that can help save your life, the more empowered and confident you are going to feel. Read more
Self-Defense: Steps to Survival (Excellent Book)
This book is dedicated to everyone who was ever violated and didn’t fight back. Maybe you didn’t know how, or you were scared, you thought you’d be hurt worse, or you thought it was your fault. It wasn’t your fault. It’s important to understand how you can resist this kind of situation should you ever be faced with it again.
People are not attacked simply because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Most assailants are known by their victims and plan their attacks far in advance. Knowing this, you should know how to defend yourself should you ever be concerned about a specific relationship in your life or as a general safety precaution.
