When you read information about women who have made self-defense initiatives for women their life’s work, it is inspiring to realize that there are options for women to stay safe (and stay alive) when confronted by an attacker. When you know how to fight and defend yourself against a predator, you no longer have to live in fear!
Dr. Ruthless (Melissa Soat), self-defense/black belt expert, teaches self-defense and speaks to audiences of women and men about overall self-defense techniques, awareness strategies, and how learning these skills can give you a tremendous sense of empowerment and self-confidence. I have seen Dr. Ruthless’ self-defense videos and she is one "tough" fighter. If all options are exhausted and you must fight for your life - fight back with explosive power and find that "ballistic" alter ego inside that refuses to become a victim of some predator’s assault, attack, or worse..murder. Just (2) postings ago I had talked about Parking Garage/Mall Parking Safety Tips. Two of the most vulnerable places for an attack or assault to happen is in a deserted parking garage or a shopping mall parking lot late in the evening. If you use city parking garages, be aware and be alert at all times. Read more
Realtor Fights Off Attacker In House - South Bend, IN
This past weekend there was an incident where a realtor (female) was attacked by her prospect. As I have written about on many occasions - it doesn’t matter that you live in a small community like South Bend, Indiana where crime may not be as prevalent as in the larger cities - but crime still happens! And these criminals are looking for the avenue of least resistance. Realtors are considered a high risk profession and they need to do everything they can to ensure that their personal safety is one of their highest priorities.
That means ensuring you have a Safety Plan that includes taking self-defense training to learn simple, yet effective defensive techniques and tactics that will enable you to protect and defend yourself against an attacker. Also, take a personal safety awareness class that reviews and reiterates many realtor safety guidelines that are designed to promote everyday awareness to keep you safe. Read more
American Women’s Self-Defense Association (AWSDA)
AWSDA promotes greater awareness about women’s self-defense and rape prevention through its quarterly newsletter and conferences. AWSDA members are encouraged to explore new teaching techniques and concepts and share strategies for promotion women’s self-defense in their communities through the newsletter and at the annual training seminar. AWSDA is also in the process of developing a communications network to spread information about organizations that assist women in handling assault, such as rape crisis centers, victim assistance programs, and neighborhood watch programs. Gutzy Self-Defense For Women-The Ultimate Palm Strike
Checkout Dr. Ruthless’ website @ www.dr-ruthless.com
This woman has definately got the self-defense moves, the self-defense techniques, and the gutziness to make me want to learn what she knows so I can add it to my safety plan of action. I never want to be a victim of crime. To be one step ahead of a predator, I want to know if attacked that I have the confidence, the fortitude, the know-how and the flat out strength and power to fight back with everything I have to survive!
When you think about it, why should some dirt-bag predator determine that your life is worth nothing and he has the right to take it from you…and your family. Just the thought of that scenario should make women angry as all get out!!
Watch the self-defense palm strike moves in the video and learn them. If attacked, this could be one of the ultimate weapons you effectively use to get away to safety.
Look at taking a good self-defense class - you know I highly recommend the RAD Self-Defense class.

Realtor Personal Safety Awareness Program
The following video gives excellent safety tips for realtors. Many of the safety tips will seem pretty obvious. But we all can become a little complacent - especially with our home and personal security. Just when we let our guard down the unexpected happens. That’s why it is a good idea to review personal safety habits that should be a part of our life… and could help save our life in dangerous situations.
On Wednesday my business associate from ADT Security and I will be giving a Realtor Personal & Home Security Safety Awareness Program to one of the largest Century 21 offices in Northern Indiana. Our program provides targeted personal safety and home security strategies that each agent can use on a daily basis. We believe that personal security starts in the home. Therefore, your home must be a safe haven whether you or family members are home or away.
Experts agree that the single most important step towards ensuring an individual’s total personal security is to make the decision to refuse to be a victim. That means you must have an overall personal safety plan or strategy in place before you need it and be able to aggressively defend yourself if attacked.
Our goal is to provide a program of personal safety and security, self-awareness, and empowerment that will enable real estate agents to protect themselves and not become a victim of an attack by a perpetrator, an unruly prospect, or customer.
We all need to make personal safety and security a proactive habit 24/7. We can then ensure we’re one step ahead of a predator who preys on defenseless women.

Self-Defense With An Attitude: Don’t Mess With Dr. Ruthless!

Dr. Ruthless, Self-Defense/Black Belt Expert
You need to watch this video of self-defense/black belt instructor Dr. Ruthless. She definitely has an attitude that says, “I will not become a victim of your crime today, Buddy.” And she looks like she can beat the crap out of guys twice her size.
Melissa Soalt aka Dr. Ruthless has developed self-defense techniques and tactics that when used appropriately will absolutely surprise a male attacker and send HIM running in another direction. It’s all in how you carry yourself, your mental attitude, your mental toughness, and what you have learned from your self-defense training that will give you the confidence to fight off an attacker.
You need to find your inner strength. If you have taken a self-defense course or purchased self-defense videos/DVDs, you should practice…practice…practice the techniques you have learned. After your self-defense class is completed and over, you will want to occasionally visualize in your mind the techniques you learned and how they would apply to specific types of attacks. It is a good idea to have a basic self-defense training video on-hand, similar to ones listed on my site, that you can refer to from time to time. Read more
Self-Defense Awareness, Training, And Being Mentally Prepared
Over the weekend I attended an NRA Refuse To Be A Victim Class in upper Michigan. This is a program that I am getting certified to train others in - so I wanted to see exactly how the program was structured. It is primarily designed to provide safety awareness in about 7-8 areas of our daily lives that can keep us safe and ulimately help save our lives. A big part of the program discussed self-defense and personal security.
Many of the areas that were covered are areas we all know about but because we are so busy with our "everyday life" we tend to become complacent about our personal security and forget. Safety awareness reminders are good for all of us. If we learn one good concept from a training program like this, it will definitely be worth the time and investment we put into it.
People say you shouldn’t become paranoid about your personal security and start to question every action by another person. I totally agree that we should not become paranoid, but that we should develop an acute awareness of what’s going on around us at all times. Almost like a silent "watchdog" who sees and knows everything. Read more
