Did you hear that a mother and her 8-year old daughter were found shot to death and left inside their SUV in Baca Raton, Florida? This just happened on 12/13/07 as they were leaving the Town Center Mall. (12 days before Christmas).
They were probably doing the last of their Christmas shopping and as they left the mall out of nowhere someone approached them and forced them inside their vehicle. Did he want money? What was his motive? And why did he have to kill them?
Think about it - how many of you are doing this exact same thing? You’re doing your Christmas shopping and not paying close attention when you leave the mall and head towards your car. Once you get to your car you have to unlock and then load your gifts into the car. Are you scanning the area as you approach your vehicle? This lady had someone unexpectedly approach her and ultimately forced her and her daughter into their car at gunpoint.
Your defenseless at this point. What are you going to do? You have your little daughter with you and your greatest fear is that the attacker will kill both of you. He may just want your money and then he’s out of there. But chances are he wants more. And these punks know how easy it is to get away with killing women and children these days.
Ladies, please..please..please think personal security and safety 24/7. No matter where you live, think Security. This type of crime can happen anywhere. There are way too many sick people freely running around looking for their next victim.
No one thinks this type of incident will happen to them. But what if it does? What type of plan of action do you have? Are you prepared to defend yourself and your child? Do you have any type of personal security device or personal alarm that you carry? You should! Why not be prepared for the worst that could happen. Maybe you will never have to use it, but wouldn’t you rather know you had half a chance if it meant staying alive?
Before it’s too late, check with your local police to see if they offer some type of personal self-defense class. If not, maybe they know of other businesses that do. Consider carrying some type of personal protection, whether it be pepper spray, mace, or a personal alarm. Noise is a big deterrant and can quickly alert others to your situation.
In the next few days I will discuss the various personal protection devices and how carrying them with you and being properly trained in using them can ultimately save your life. There are plenty of devices on the market and they are generally easy to use. Until next time, Stay Safe!
Remember, Stay Aware…Stay Alert…Stay Alive!
